14 towns in Bulacan affected by heavy flooding due to Typhoon Egay

Fourteen towns in the province of Bulacan are still affected by the heavy flooding brought by southwest monsoon induced by Super Typhoon Egay. According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) headed by Ret. Police Col. Manuel Lukban Jr., the flooded areas include 29 barangays in the City of Malolos; 26 villages in Calumpit; four in Balagtas; eight in Guiguinto; 13 in the City of Meycauayan; 16 in Paombong; four in Angat; 12 in Pandi, and five villages in Bocaue. Also under floodwaters are Barangay Bintog in Plaridel; Barangays Poblacion and Catacte in Bustos; Barangays Panghulo, Catanghalan, Pagasa, Tawiran, and Paco in Obando; Lias, Ibayo, Abangan Norte and Saog in Marilao; and Balagtas-BMA, Diliman 2, Maronquillo, Pansumaloc and Pulong Bayabas in San Rafael. About 3,727 families or 14,407 individuals are temporarily housed at the 166 evacuation centers in the province. Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro along with volunteer workers, social workers, rescuers, PNP, and Philippine Army personnel visited flood victims, including those temporarily housed at different evacuation centers in the province of Bulacan, from Friday evening, July 28, until Saturday morning, July 29. Evacuees were brought by rescuers to their temporary shelter after Typhoon Egay unleashed rains and strong winds from Monday evening until Friday. Vice Gov. Castro said the provincial government through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office has been exerting coordinated rescue and relief operations in areas greatly affected by flooding. Meanwhile, Bulacan First District Representative Danilo A. Domingo through Councilor Didis Domingo continued the distribution of relief goods to thousands of Bulakenyos that suffered massive flooding. They have already distributed more than 4,000 relief goods to residents in different barangays in the town of Calumpit. Calumpit Mayor Lem Faustino also visited the evacuation centers and provided relief packs and hot meals to the evacuees. Mayor Faustino also send modular tents to be used by the evacuees. Bulakenyos are now appealing to the operators of dams in Bulacan to discontinue releasing big volumes of water because it will aggravate the flooding in Calumpit and some parts of Hagonoy, Paombong, and Pulilan.
