CEBU CITY – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will be here on Friday, July 28, for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Council Summit and the inauguration of the National Museum Philippines-Cebu.
The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) will be on full alert to ensure the security of the President and the 150 delegates from 21 nations attending the summit from July 27 to July 30 in a hotel at South Road Properties.
“There is no specific threat with regard to this particular activity and the PRO-7 is ready, cooperating, and coordinating with the local government units and organizers to make sure that the delegates are safe and secured,” said Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of PRO-7.
Pelare said the PRO-7 is also ready in case militant groups will hold protest rallies during the visit of Marcos.
He said police will observe maximum tolerance but the protesters must present a permit to rally.
Pelare added that the PRO-7 will also secure various tourist spots for the possibility that some delegates will tour the city and nearby places during the summit.
“Our security coverage is very comprehensive anticipating the movements of the participants,” said Pelare.
