BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.8 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental on Thursday, July 27.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was recorded at 1:47 a.m. and its epicenter was 98 kilometers (kms) southwest of Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The tremor had a depth of 18 kilometers, Phivolcs said.
Phivolcs does not expect any damage or aftershocks from the earthquake.
The Office of Civil Defense-Southern Mindanao and Davao Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported no damage or injury from the earthquake.
