BACOLOD CITY – Typhoon “Egay” has affected 8,540 families composed of 32,670 individuals from 125 barangays in Negros Occidental as of Wednesday, July 26.
The Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) said most of the affected residents were from Valladolid, resulting in the evacuation of 3,891 families or 17,510 individuals.
Evacuees were from Barangays Guintorilan, Ayungon, Alijis, Mabini, Bagumbayan, Central Tabao, Tabao Proper, Sagua Banua, Palaka, Poblacion, Batuan, Doldol, Pacol, and Paloma.
Also affected were Barangays Bagonawa, Baliwagan, Guintorilan, Poblacion, Tabao Rizal, Tabao Babay, Sibucao, Tibsoc, and Batuan in San Enrique; Barangays Pandanon, Bunga, Bagong Silang, Igmayaan, and Kumaliskis in Don Salvador Benedicto; Barangays Maricalum, III, Cabadiangan, Gil Montilla, and Manlucahug in Sipalay City;
Barangays Maao, Balingasag, Taloc, Poblacion, Calumangan, Napoles, Aliaza, and Caridad in Bago City; Barangays San Juan and San Isidro in Pontevedra; Barangays Patag, Lantad, and Guinhalaran in Silay City;
Barangays Guijulgan in Cauayan; Barangays Mabini and Celestino Villacin in Cadiz City; Barangay Culo in Pulupandan; Barangays Sangke, I Poblacion, Daug, and Alim in Hinoba-an; Barangays Old Sagay and Poblacion 2 in Sagay City; and Barangay Robles in La Castellana.
On the other hand, 167 houses were damaged in 11 barangays in the province due to Egay’s strong winds. Eighteen were totally damaged while 149 were partially damaged. These were in Hinoba-an, Pontevedra, San Enrique, Silay, Sagay, and Cadiz.
Crops worth about P3.8 million were damaged by the typhoon.
In this city, 1,312 families or 4,520 individuals were affected by Egay in 18 barangays as of July 26. Affected barangays were 1, 2, 27, 31, 35, 36, 39, 40, 41, Pahanocoy, Taculing, Sum-ag, Singcang-Airport, Mansilingan, Tangub, Cabug, Alijis, and Punta Taytay.
