The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Wednesday, July 26 vowed the swift implementation of electronic governance (e-Gov) programs in the country.
DICT aims to fasttrack the rollout of the programs to "enable interoperability, foster efficiency in governance, and support data-driven decision-making." "In support of the marching order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to facilitate the full digitalization of the country's bureaucracy, the Department of Information and Communications Technology announced that it will expedite the implementation of e-Government projects," DICT said. In his State of the Nation Address, President Marcos described "digitalization" in business and abolishing graft and corruption as the "greatest and most powerful tool.” "Digitalization is the call of today; not the call of the future—but of the present. It is here. It is needed, and it is needed today. Government must fully embrace digitalization to provide better service to the people, through its vital frontline services and its back-end functions," the President said. Meanwhile, DICT chief Ivan John Uy commended the "visionary" kind of leadership of President Marcos, which has “inspired the department to ramp up its digital transformation efforts, leading to the launch and rollout of our e-Government projects over the past year: e-Travel, eGov PH Super App, eLGU, and eReport.” "We will continue to optimize these existing platforms and implement our other e-Government projects to enable efficient public service delivery and support sound data-driven decisions," he added.
