China on Thursday said it is ready to assist those affected by Typhoon Egay, which has already left a trail of destruction in the Philippines.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian said that "as coser neighbor, China is always prepared to assist when necessary."
"Wishing that all those impacted could quickly rebuild their homes after overcoming the pain and suffering," he added.
Huang also expressed his and the embassy's sympathoes to those who have been affected by Egay and the floods and landslides that damaged Northern Luzon and other regions of the Philippines.
"My thoughts are with all the grieving families; may they find comfort and fortitude during this trying time," he added.
At least three individuals were believed to be casualties of Egay. One of them reportedly died, another one was injured due to a flash flood in Cardona, Rizal, and the other was hurt after getting hit by falling rocks after a soil erosion in Nabas, Aklan.
The Department of National Defense (DND) said it is still validating the report.
Thousands were already displaced as Egay also submerged swaths of northern Luzon.
