Nine village chairmen in the province of Bulacan were recognized for their efforts in clearing their area of illegal drugs on Wednesday, July 26, at Camp General Alejo Santos, City of Malolos.

Malolos City Mayor Christian D. Natividad, City Police chief Lt. Col. Andrei Anthony Manglo, and Bulacan PDEA Assistant provincial director Bracio Natividad lauded the nine barangay chairmen for making their villages drug-free. Natividad gave certificates of recognition to the nine village captains but reminded them that the recognition will be forfeited if the illegal drugs problem returns to their areas.  Recognized as drug-free barangays are Guinhawa, Lugam, Bagong Bayan, Mabolo, Tall, Tikay, Masili, Sumapang Bata, and Sumapang Matanda, all in the City of Malolos. Mayor Natividad urged the other barangay leaders to double their efforts in making their villages drug-free. The mayor also urged the public to cooperate by reporting suspected drug pushers and users as he assured them that their identities will be kept confidential.
