The Philippine National Police (PNP) has procured more guns, vehicles and other equipment worth over P571 million as part of the efforts to boost the operational capabilities of the police force.
PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. said the P571,295,695.40 spent to buy the equipment was sourced from the Capability Enhancement Programs from 2020, 2022, and 2023, in addition to the General Appropriations Fund from 2021 and 2022.

Those delivered to the PNP were 80 units of light transport vehicle; 10 units of Advanced Life Support Ambulances; 3,000 units of 5.56mm Basic Assault Rifle; 4,147,266 rounds of cartridge 9mm Ball; 5,816,824 rounds of Ctg. 5.56mm Ball SS109; 369 units of Digital Mobile Radio, and 1,416 units of enhanced combat helmet. “These acquisitions mark a significant leap towards a more capable and modern police force, committed to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the nation,” said Acorda during the blessing of the newly-procured materials at Camp Crame in Quezon City. "As we receive and bless this new equipment, let us remember that it symbolizes not just an upgrade in our resources but also an unwavering dedication to the principles that guide us in our service to the Filipino people. Our commitment to uphold the rule of law, protect our communities, and maintain peace and order remains steadfast,” he added.

Acorda also lauded the PNP’s Bids and Awards Committee led by Police Maj. Gen. Mario Reyes for ensuring that the entire process was transparent. “Through their relentless efforts, the PNP now possesses cutting-edge equipment that will undoubtedly bolster the organization's capacity to fulfill its duties and responsibilities effectively,” said Acorda.
