Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez distributed English, Mathematics and Filipino textbooks to students to enhance their reading comprehension and numeracy skills.
The distribution of textbooks was held at the Jaime Ferred Hall at the Department of Education (DepEd) School Division Office in Barangay San Dionisio on Tuesday, July 25.
Olivarez said the beneficiaries of textbooks were students from the first, second, seventh, and eight grades.
He said the textbooks will help students develop their skills in reading comprehension and numeracy skills and do better in their studies.
DepEd School Division Superintendent Dr. Dr. Nerissa L. Losaria noted that only students in the third and tenth grades were getting 80 percent averages in exams in reading comprehension.
Olivarez said the city government coordinated with Representatives Edwin Olivarez and Gus Tambunting to uplift the quality of education in the city.
He added that the city government was very thankful to the two congressmen who immediately helped the city government in providing better education to students.
As an educator, the mayor also expressed his wish for the students to do extremely well in their studies by giving them better and quality education.
