CALATAGAN, Batangas – A 42-year-old Norwegian went missing while swimming in a resort in Barangay Santa Ana here on Tuesday afternoon, July 25.
Police identified him as Gorgan Hagesater of Barangay Santolan, Pasig City.
Hagesater and companion Christian Atle Hanse, 43, decided to go swimming amid rough seas caused by typhoon “Egay.”
They were hit strong waves upon reaching a deep portion of the sea about 200 meters away from the shoreline.
Hanse was able to hold onto a life ring while Hagesater was carried away by the waves and disappeared.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), police, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO), Philippine Red Cross (PRC), barangay officials, and volunteers conducted a search and rescue operation for Hagesater who is yet to be found as of posting time.
Hanse was provided first aid and is now in stable condition. He refused treatment in a hospital.
