BACOLOD CITY – Two persons drowned in this city and Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, July 25.
Police identified the victims as Arnold Billojan, 48, of Barangay Aranda, Hinigaran, and Victor Moreno Jr., 32, of Barangay Mansilingan here and a construction worker.
Billojan was reported missing on July 25 after he went to a river in Hinigaran.
Police Capt. Leonel Adolacion, deputy chief of the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station, said that a fisherman found Billojan’s remains floating on the sea in Barangay 2, Quincihan the following day, Wednesday, July 26.
Adolacion said that the victim possibly fell into the river and his body was then carried away by the strong river current to the sea.
Moreno was found lifeless on the shore of Purok Sigay, Barangay Singcang-Airport here.
Police Capt. Melvin Mercado, head of Police Station 8, said the victim went fishing at the Mansilingan River and tried to swim to the other side but he was carried away by the strong current.
Heavy rains from typhoon “Egay” since July 25 have affected this city and the province since July 25.
