Goyang City Council from South Korea visits Taguig 


Members of the Goyang City Council from South Korea visited Taguig to foster cooperation and collaboration. 

On July 25, Kim Young-sik, chairman of the Goyang City Council, and Mayor Lani Cayetano met at the Friendship Exchange Ceremony held at the Kalayaan Hall of Taguig Satellite Office in SM Aura.

Cayetano and Kim signed a Letter of Intent for Friendship and Cooperation between Taguig and Goyang. The letter enumerated areas of cooperation between the two cities and intent to collaborate in various fields such as culture, art, education, tourism, sports and agriculture. 

Goyang is located north of Seoul and has a population of more than one million people. 

“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Goyang City Council for gracing us with their presence. Your willingness to explore new horizons and foster ties of friendship demonstrates the power of unity and cooperation,” said Cayetano. 

She added, “Our cities may be separated by distance, language, and culture, but as we’ve come to realize, we are bound by a common desire for progress, compassion, and a brighter future for our citizens.“ 

For his part, Kim said, "I very much appreciate Mayor Lani Cayetano, Vice Mayor Arvin Ian Alit, and other councilors for their warm welcome to the delegation of Goyang City Council and making this ceremony possible.”

Kim added, “Based on our friendship and trust, I want to pioneer and develop the year of globalization together through exchange activities in various fields such as culture, tourism, economy, education, and industry.”
