Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Party-list Rep. Migs Nograles congratulated the entire Philippine women's football team for their historic 1-0 win against New Zealand in the women's World Cup 2023. But the lady solon gave special mention to midfielder Sara Eggesvik in particular, a fellow Davaoeña. "Congratulations to the Philippine Women's National Football Team on their historic upset against New Zealand in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023!" Nograles said in a statement Wednesday, July 26. "This victory has certainly marked a significant milestone in Philippine football history as it showcased the unwavering determination, resilience, and skill of our talented Filipina players," she said. "I am very proud especially to fellow Davaoeña Sara Eggesvik who facilitated the assist for that one historic goal of Sarina Bolden," Nograles, an assistant majority leader, said. Bolden's goal stunned the home crowd Wellington, New Zealand, as the Philippines marked its first victory at either a men’s or women’s World Cup. "We are proud of you, and we eagerly await your future endeavors as you continue to make the Philippines shine brightly on the international football stage. Mabuhay ang Philippine Women's National Football Team!" Nograles further said.
