These World University Rankings, De Vera said, are Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Times Higher Education (THE), and the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) which are all “recognized prestigious university rankings.”

These three world university ranking metrics, CHED said, were identified by the Commission under the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the RA 11448 or the “Transnational Higher Education Law.”

Meanwhile, CHED noted that the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) is “not a CHED-recognized international ranking metric” to date.

“Should the CWUR be included in this group, there will be even more than 52 Philippine higher education institutions recognized in international world rankings,” De Vera said.

CHED noted that aside from THE and QS metrics, the exemplary performance of Philippine universities which were recognized in WURI and QS Stars should also be highlighted.

De Vera issued the statement following the “misleading news report” Marcos provided “inaccurate figures” in the world university rankings during his second SONA on July 24.

“I urge the public to be vigilant in accepting information, especially from those who claim to be ‘fact-checkers’,” De Vera said. “CHED assures the public that we will only provide correct information based on verified data,” he added.

Likewise, De Vera also urged the public to be “united and take pride in celebrating each and every Filipino success” --- especially those recognized in the international landscape.
