Caloocan gov't inaugurates 'Kadiwa Bagsakan Center'
To address nutrition and livelihood concerns in low-income areas in Caloocan City, the local government has opened its new “Kadiwa Bagsakan Center (KBC)” which provides city residents with a local market where they can purchase cheap and locally-sourced goods.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo Along Malapitan led the inauguration of the KBC in Phase 9, Barangay 176, Bagong Silang in the city on Tuesday, July 25.
It is the first local government-initiated center to be established in Metro Manila which features a spacious area with more than 200 stalls for dry goods, wet market, and general merchandise, according to the local government.

The mayor assured consumers that the goods being sold at the KBC are guaranteed to be safe, clean, and of good quality. Malapitan also said the lease for the vendors' stalls at the KBC will be free for the first six months. He added that the KBC is in line with one of his main objectives which is to improve the city’s economy and encouraged his constituents to support projects similar to the local market. The purpose of KBC is not only to have a market, but also for the economy of our city. Ever since I became Mayor, one of my programs has always been to strengthen and improve our economy),” Malapitan said. The city government is giving our citizens the opportunity to earn an income. So I hope we support KBC; you've made money, you've also helped our city's economy),” he added.
