BAGUIO CITY – Two persons were injured when a landslide buried their shanty at the Baguio General Hospital compound on Wednesday morning, July 26. The Baguio City Police Office Station 8 (Kennon Road) rescued the victims, a taxi driver who owned the shanty, and a 44-year-old carwash worker and resident of Teachers Camp here. They were taken to the hospital. This city under storm signal No. 2 due to typhoon “Egay” (international name “Doksuri”) has reported significant damage. An almost century-old tree on Harrison Road was uprooted by strong winds. Continuous downpour flooded Lake Drive with water levels reaching knee-deep. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating rescue and relief efforts to ensure the safety of residents and minimize further damage to property and infrastructure. Residents were urged to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until Egay passes. The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council monitored and responded to various incidents as a result of Egay. Incidents of fallen trees, soil erosion, flooding, fallen posts, and stranded passengers were addressed by response teams from the Baguio City Police Office, City Engineering Office, City Buildings and Architecture Office, City Environment and Parks Management Office, Baguio Fire Department, and other government and private groups and individual volunteers along with barangay disaster response units. The CDRRM Office led by officer-in-charge Glenn Lardizabal said they are doing their best to promptly respond to all concerns from the tropical cyclone.
