Sikaran is a traditional Filipino martial art and a contact sport that involves the feet and the hands to parry the attack of the opponent. It was reportedly introduced by rice farmers in Baras, Tanay and Morong prior to the Spanish occupation. The name is believed to have originated from the root word “sikad” or kick in English. The Filipino martial art is also being practiced in other Asian countries, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the United States after being introduced by both Filipino and foreign martial artists.
