Marcos arrives in Malaysia for state visit

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia-- President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and his delegation arrived here on Tuesday afternoon, July 25, for a state visit. The plane carrying Marcos and the Philippine delegation landed at 4:51 p.m. at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Also dubbed as a "reciprocal visit" between the Philippines and Malaysia, Marcos' state visit is a "testament to the reinvigorated relationship" of both countries. Marcos will kick off his two-day stay in Kuala Lumpur by meeting the Filipino community in the country. His state visit will formally begin on Wednesday morning through a State Welcoming ceremony with Malaysian King Al-Sultan Abdullah at the Istana Negara or the National Palace. A meeting between the two leaders, a State Banquet, bilateral meeting with Ibrahim, and a joint press briefing will take place on the same day. Marcos will also participate in a tree-planting event and an orchid naming ceremony inside the Palace. He will conclude his first day in the city with a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister. On his last day here, the Chief Executive will hold various meetings with business leaders before going back to the country. He is expected to meet Farm Fresh Milk, Capital A Berhad (formerly known as Air Asia Group Berhad), and Malaysian business leaders. In his meetings, Marcos expects to forge pacts in areas of cooperation such as agriculture, food security, tourism, digital economy, and people-to-people exchanges. The President also intends to explore new ties with Malaysia on Halal industry and Islamic banking.
