A big win in the war against illegal drugs. That's how Surigao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers described President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s acceptance of the resignations of the 18 senior police officers allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade. “Make no mistake about it. The President’s acceptance of the resignations of the 18 senior police officers allegedly involved in illegal drug activities is a welcome move and proves the seriousness of his resolve to curb the drug menace," Barbers said Tuesday, July 25. "This is a big win in our war on drugs," added the long-time chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs. The veteran solon then called on Filipinos to cooperate fully with the government in order to resolve the drug problem. “Our united front in fighting this problem does not end here. We shall continue to be vigilant and steadfast in the performance of our duties so we can deliver to the people our promise of good governance," Barbers said. "I call on the Napolcom (National Police Commission) to continue its constant monitoring of our police officers and their performance in order to make the wisest advice to our President," he added. The Napolcom has supervisory functions over the Philippine National Police (PNP). “We trust the President and we fully support him in his commitment to end this curse and shifting course towards rehabilitation and reintegration of people victimized by illegal drugs," Barbers further said.
