"Reminder, last chance for you [unregistered SIM card users] to register your SIM cards, up to midnight tonight," DICT Chief Ivan John Uy said in an interview on the sidelines of the Post-SONA Discussions in Pasay City. "After that, you will no longer be able to use your SIM cards," he added.Â

Registration target
Uy mentioned that the DICT targets 70 percent of total registration. "If we compare SIM card registrations from different countries, 70 percent of total SIM cards are legitimate (revenue-generating SIMs)," Uy said in a mix of English and Filipino. "At that, we are about expecting between 100 to 110 million revenue-generating SIM cards. So, at 105 million, we're right on the dot in terms of our targets," he added.Registration update
"The latest number we received was 105 million SIM cards that has [have] been registered already. So, we're on target. Although our original number was 160 million, more or less, that was 160 million of active SIM cards that were sold. But of course, we all know that the large portion of that were single-used SIM cards (non-revenue SIMs)," Uy said. As of July 24, DICT said the total SIM registrants reached 105,917,844. Uy once again reminded the public against selling personal identification. "In the meantime, a reminder to everybody, do not sell your credentials," he said. "We've received reports, and we've actually arrested some groups in possession of SIM cards that have been registered by people, and they sell those SIM cards to criminal organizations that are being used for scamming," he added. *(Sonny Daanoy)* Read: [https://mb.com.ph/2023/6/24/scammers-exploit-money-mules-as-sim-registration-deadline-nears-dict-2](https://mb.com.ph/2023/6/24/scammers-exploit-money-mules-as-sim-registration-deadline-nears-dict-2)
