'Egay,' transport strike prompt UP to shift to WFH, asynchronous classes

In a social media post, UP issued a memorandum announcing the conduct of asynchronous classes and WFH for students and personnel, citing the UP System Administration Office (UPSA). "In consideration of the inclement weather due to the super typhoon and the ongoing three-day transport strike, UPSA offices/units are authorized to adopt the work-from-home arrangement," it said. Moreover, De La Salle University (DLSU) Rufino campus also announced the suspension of classes and work starting at 12 p.m. in a social media post. However, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) that have resumed classes such as Colegio de San Juan de Letrán (CSJL), Mapua University, Far Eastern University (FEU), National University (NU), University of Santo Tomas (UST), Adamson University (AdU), Arellano University (AU), St. Paul University Manila (SPUM), Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU), University of the East (UE) and Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) have yet to announce the cancellation of classes. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that as "Egay" (international name: Doksuri) grew stronger and turned into a super typhoon, it could bring heavy rains and strong winds to northern Luzon between the evening of July 25 and afternoon of July 26. *(Rhowen Del Rosario)* Read: [https://mb.com.ph/2023/7/25/egay-intensifies-into-super-typhoon](https://mb.com.ph/2023/7/25/egay-intensifies-into-super-typhoon)
