As stated in the IRR, "failure to register the existing SIM within the period prescribed shall result in the automatic deactivation of the SIM." The deactivated SIM, the IRR added, "may only be reactivated after registration; provided, however, that reactivation shall be made not later than five (5) days after such automatic deactivation." Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy said the five-day reactivation period written in IRR remained the basis to apply after the deadline. "Based on the IRR, so [we] will follow the IRR. So from there, siguro catch up, 'no? But putol na sila, then let see if they -- within those five days maka-catch up for reactivation pero putol na (Based on the IRR, we will follow the IRR. So from there, they will catch up. But their connectivity is already cut, then let see if they can -- within those five days to catch up for reactivation)," Uy said.
