2,131 passengers stranded in Northern Samar ports due to 'Egay'

TACLOBAN CITY -- The Philippine Coast Guard  reported  2,131 passengers, 348 rolling cargoes, and seven stranded vessels in three ports in Northern Samar on Tuesday, July 25, due to typhoon "Egay."

These stranded passengers and vessels were on their way to Matnog Port in Sorsogon.

Two vessel were taking shelter while all PCG stations and sub-stations were advised to ensure strict implementation of their guidelines on movement of vessels during bad weather.

PCG noted that due to Egay, rough to very high seas will be experienced over the northern and eastern seaboard of Eastern Visayas with wave lengths of 2.8 to 4.5 meters and rough to very rough seas over the eastern seaboard.

The PCG added that since Egay will no longer affect the jurisdiction of the Coast Guard Station Western Leyte, they have allowed vessels or watercraft with 250 gross tons and above to sail  in its Areas of Responsibilities (AOR).

On the other hand, trips for small vessels or seacraft with 250 gross tons and  below are still suspended due to a gale warning issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.
