What IHeartPh host Valerie Tan loves most

"I love this job!" exclaims IHeartPh host Valerie Tan, referring to her hosting career. At a young age, Valerie was already into public speaking, joining declamation contests in school. Her passion for media and the arts has never waned as she dipped her hands into theater and TV commercials after obtaining her bachelor degree in Communications Technology Management from the Ateneo de Manila University. In 2018, she was tapped to be the host of a magazine show, titled "IHearthPh" on CNN Philippines. Now in its 8th season, IHeartPh continues to tell inspiring stories and showcase the beautiful wonders of the Philippines. "I've grown together with the show. It has taught me to just be in the moment of each experience, to learn from unexpected situations, and with that, be capable of sharing all these to our viewers." Valerie claims that, from local features, iHeartPh has expanded to showcasing stories even outside of the country. In fact, the show has been chosen as Philippine media partner for Taiwan's tourism campaign. "Our previous special season "IHeartPh: Love Fun Taiwan" is streaming on TaiwanPlus. Being the Filipino host for it alongside our guest co-host Rovilson Fernandez is truly an honor." The TV host shares about her most memorable experience in Taiwan. It was a tour feature on the National Museum of Marine Biology where tourists get to sleep in an auditorium surrounded by exotic fish and vibrant marine life. "Imagine having these fish as your roommates!" Her stint in hosting IHeartPh gives her the perks of experiencing new things, traveling to new places, and meeting interesting people. She also gets inspired by the people who, knowing life can be challenging and unfair at times, use their past as a fuel to work harder, and eventually succeed. "I get to do all these on a regular basis and I get to call this my job.I'm truly grateful." Grateful as she is, it is no surprise that her hosting job loves her back as Valerie is one of today's most in-demand hosts for TV and events.
More than the skills, her right attitude and good work ethics are what endear her to clients - making her a prolific TV and event host.
Not everyone knows, Valerie is a product of the talent reality search "May Trabaho Ka" (as the winner of its search for public affairs host edition) aired on GMA Network's channel QTV (now GTV). That started her TV hosting career. And as they say, the rest is history. "With TV, you're speaking to a camera and the shots are mostly close-up or medium, so you have to be more subdued," Valerie compares between hosting for TV and live events. "While on live events, sometimes you speak to an audience of hundreds or thousands, so your energy has to be palpable enough to reach the people at the back." Whether on TV or live events, Valerie upholds her core as a professional host: To connect and build rapport with the audience. At the moment, Valerie is focused on IHeartPh in spreading good vibes by uplifting the image of the Philippines and showing the good side of the Filipinos. She claims to travel more in and out of the country. "There are Pinoys all over the world so definitely, there are many more stories that need to be shared." Obviously, Valerie knows the show by heart. "Life can get overwhelming so join us and have a dose of positive vibes and good news with iHeartPh," beams Valerie. Catch IHeartPh every Sunday at 7 PM, with replays on Tuesdays at 4:30 PM on CNN Philippines.
