If you logged in to Twitter now on your PC, don’t be too surprised to find the little blue bird is now gone, replaced with the stylized letter “X.” Musk has confirmed the X is an interim logo, meaning eventually it will be replaced once more when they have decided the final look on how the X would look like. The name “Twitter” will also be dropping soon and to be called simply, X.
Elon Musk has started the transition only a few hours ago and changes are happening as we speak. The desktop version of Twitter has already been changed. So far, as of this writing, the iOS and Android apps for Twitter haven't seen any changes yet. But we’ll be expecting them to roll out soon.
This is one of the sweeping changes Elon Musk is planning with the social media app. Earlier this year, Twitter allowed longer tweets up to 4,000 characters for paying users. There would also be an implementation of limiting DMs for non-paying users, as well as lower visibility and engagement. Recently, Elon Musk said Twitter will be adding new features, such as posting long and complex articles, which has yet to be officially be announced.
X has had quite a history with Elon Musk, as most of the companies and products under him have the letter. For instance, SpaceX, and his new AI company, X.Ai. X was also the original name of PayPal, which Elon Musk was a co-founder of.
