ILOILO CITY – The transport strike and the second State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Western Visayas on Monday, July 24, were generally peaceful, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said.

Borio said there was less than 700 protesters scattered across Western Visayas. Bacolod City had the most number with 340 in three different sites. Iloilo City, the regional capital, had around 200, and Roxas City, the capital of Capiz province, had about 100. Kalibo, the capital of Aklan province, had around 30. The protesters were mostly from Left-leaning organizations. The pro-government Sentrong Alyansa ng mga Mamamayan para sa Bayan (Sambayanan-Western Visayas) conducted a multi-sectoral gathering at Sunburst Park here. More than 300 pro-government supporters had banners urging support for the peace and development programs of the Marcos administration.
