P5-M shabu seized in Marikina buy-bust

Over P5 million worth of illegal drugs was seized from two high-value individuals (HVIs) during a drug buy-bust operation by the Marikina City police on Saturday, July 22.

Eastern Police District (EPD) Director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta identified the suspects as “Jam,” 46, a businessman; and “Jalanie,” 25.

Operatives of the Marikina Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) arrested the suspects at 5 p.m. along the Amphitheater Plaza in Barangay Barangka in Marikina City.

Recovered from the suspects were more or less 760 grams of suspected shabu placed in 13 sachets and worth P5,160,000.

They were brought to the EPD Forensic Unit to undergo a drug test. The evidence was also submitted for laboratory examination.

The suspects are currently detained at the Marikina police station’s custodial facility.

Charges for sale and possession of illegal drugs, in line with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared by authorities.

“I commend the unwavering efforts of our personnel for this successful operation. As we continue our intensified campaign to eradicate illegal drugs networks and drug personalities in the community, more drug operations will be launched,” Asueta said.
