Julia Saubier is a model, actress, and a martial artist


Another Filipina beauty and talent shows that a Pinay is a real-life Barbie. In an Instagram post, Filipina actress Julia Saubier shares snippets and behind-the-scenes photos of her journey to becoming the 1971 live-action Barbie.

“Our lil (3 secs at most lol) time in Barbie Land @barbiethemovie @warnerbrosuk 💅💘 didn’t think I’d be beside Margot Robbie so soon 🤪 sick time on set on this v v v iconic film!,” she wrote. “Some of the greatest on here so v grateful to share the screen 🙏🏽 to more and more screen time and no more [canceled] films 😂🤞🏽🤪.”


Julia is hailed from Daraga, Albay. In 2019, she represented her hometown in the Bibibining Pilipinas beauty pageant. She then joined Miss Universe Philippines in 2022. Before pageantry stint, Julia is already into acting and film. In 2016, records showed that she took up a postgraduate diploma in acting for TV, Film, and Radio at New York University Abu Dhabi and then the same course in 2019 at Peking University.

In 2020, she took up acting classes in London. Meanwhile, the IMDB report says she studied martial arts in China.

“She lived in both a Chinese monastery in Yunnan province and military school in Henan where she trained in Shaolin kung-fu for a year upwards of 8-hours a day,” the report says. “She then continued her martial arts training in pekiti-tersia kali, an indigenous Filipino martial art, alongside a group that trains women and girls for self-defense purposes.”

Before “Barbie,” Julia already worked on different international projects. She was a stunt woman for the live-action adaptation of ”Mulan,” a special action performer in “The Marvels.” She also modeled for brands, including Loreal Paris, BYS, and Lotus Cars.

Currently, Julia resides in the United Kingdom, pursuing her passion for film and modeling.
