‘Egay’ halts Cebu-Negros Occidental sea trips


BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Northern Negros Occidental suspended sea trips from Cebu to Negros Occidental and vice versa on Monday, July 24, due to typhoon “Egay.”

In a travel advisory issued by PCG, trips of Roll-on, roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessels from Tabuelan, Cebu via Escalante City and Sagay City and vice-versa were suspended.

Trips from Daanbantayan, Cebu via Cadiz City and vice-versa were also suspended.

Commander Joe Luviz Mercurio, head of the PCG-Northern Negros Occidental, said sea trips were suspended following the weather bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 24.

Storm signal No. 1 was hoisted in the Visayas, including the northern portion of Cebu.
