Former President Rodrigo Duterte will skip the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go, interviewed at the sidelines of the opening of the Second Regular Session of the Senate, said Duterte is a bit exhausted after his trip from China. Duterte earlier hogged the headlines after he was documented visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping. Go pointed out the former president was also not able to attend Marcos’ first SONA. But he is certain that the former leader would be monitoring the SONA in Davao City, his hometown. Asked if the former president has met with Marcos and discussed details of his recent trip to China, Go answered in the negative. “But I’m the former president knows his obligation, if he has something to do,” Go stressed. “I know he has plans to tell the President about his conversation with him (Xi),” he added. Go also said he wouldn’t be able to attend the President’s second SONA as he already has a prior commitment.
