Classes, work in Cagayan suspended due to ‘Egay’

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Gov. Manuel Mamba on Monday, July 24, suspended work in the private sector and government offices on Tuesday, July 25, as typhoon “Egay” slowly approached Northern Luzon.

Mamba suspended classes on all levels in the province on Monday in preparation for the howler.

Work in offices that focus on disaster preparedness was not suspended.

The Cagayan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) on Monday in preparation for the possible impact of Egay in the province.

Mamba, PDRRMC chairman, urged the council to be alert.

“We need to prepare for the worst,” he said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration forecast Egay to become a super typhoon on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, July 26.
