RPMD survey shows top performing NCR mayors, representatives


The RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) released on Sunday, July 23, the results of its "Boses ng Bayan" poll showing the top performing Metro Manila mayors and legislators following their initial year in office.

According to Dr. Paul Martinez of RPMD, the regular performance appraisals of mayors and district representatives in the country are fundamental for cultivating accountability, transparency, and effective governance.

The independent survey, which was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 10,000 randomly selected registered voters across all cities in Metro Manila as respondents, was held from June 28 to July 8, 2023.

The poll results showed that Quezon City Mayor Ma. Josefina “Joy” Belmonte retains her position as the top-performing Mayor in the National Capital Region (NCR) with a job approval rating of 95.7 percent and a trust rating of 97.2 percent. Following closely, and statistically tied for second place, are Mayor Jeannie Sandoval of Malabon City with approval and trust ratings of 92.5 percent and 94.6 percent respectively, Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan of Caloocan City with 92.3 percent approval and 93.7 percent trust, Mayor John Rey Tiangco of Navotas City with 92.1 percent approval and 93.5 percent trust, and Mayor Emi Calixto of Pasay City with 91.8 percent approval and 92.7 percent trust.

The Top 5 mayors are then followed by Mayors Vico Sotto of Pasig City and Eric Olivarez of Parañaque City, achieving approval and trust ratings of 88.5 percent and 91.8 percent for Sotto, and 87.6 percent and 88.4 percent for Olivarez respectively, Mayor Abby Binay of Makati City with an approval rating of 85.3 percent and a trust rating of 87.2 percent, and Mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr. of Mandaluyong City with an approval rating of 85.1 percent and a trust rating of 86.9 percent

Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna of Manila received 83.6 percent approval and 85.4 trust, Mayor Ruffy Biazon of Muntinlupa achieved 83.4 percent approval and 86.2 percent trust, Mayor Wes Gatchalian of Valenzuela with an approval rating of 80.5 percent and trust rating of 84.8 percent, Mayor Marcy Teodoro of Marikina with an 80.2 percent approval and 85.1 percent trust, Mayor Lani Mercado of Taguig with a 79.5 percent approval and 81.7 trust, Mayor Francis Zamora of San Juan with a 77.3 percent approval and 78.6 percent trust, Mayor Ike Ponce III of Pateros with a 74.4 percent approval and 75.9 percent trust, and Mayor Imelda Aguilar of Las Piñas with a 72.8 percent approval and 74.2 percent trust.
