Parañaque LGU suspends number coding scheme on SONA Day

The Parañaque Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) is suspending the expanded number coding in the city on the day of the president's "State of the Nation Address" (SONA) on Monday, July 24.

According to Mayor Eric Olivarez, the expanded coding scheme will be suspended in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 25 of the Office of the President, declaring the suspension of work in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The suspension of work in the NCR was declared due to the threat of Typhoon Egay and the 72-hour transport strike to be staged by transportation groups on July 24 to 26.

Olivarez said the suspension of expanded number coding scheme will allow all vehicles to roam around the city.

Meanwhile, many commuters are expected to be stranded once the transport group begins their strike.

Olivarez said 40 government vehicles will be deployed for “Libreng Sakay” (free rides).

He said the routes for the free rides will be from Dr. A. Santos Avenue or the
Sucat Road going to Baclaran, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Qurino Avenue and at East and West Service Road.

The mayor added that the city will continue to implement the truck ban from 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
