Don't buy bivalent vaccines online, FDA reminds public

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Samuel Zacate reminded the public to never buy bivalent Covid-19 vaccines from online shops once more supplies arrive in the country. "Matik yan pag nakita ninyo sa online yan ibig sabihin bawal yan. Talagang dapat legitimate po. It's either yung pharmacy na yun, ay online (shop) na yun, is the online selling of a registered pharmacy (It is automatic that if you see it online, it means it is not allowed. It really should be legitimate. It is either that pharmacy, or that online shop, is the online selling of a registered pharmacy)," he said in a media briefing on Friday, July 21. The FDA is expecting more bivalent vaccine supplies from Pfizer, which will be sold in pharmacies with proper cold storage facilities and have received the green light to sell from the agency. It will be administered as a third booster shot to those 21 years of age and older who do not belong to the A1 and A2 priority groups. There is no designated price for the vaccine yet, and Zacate said it might arrive by August or September this year. He also reminded people that only those with a doctor's prescription can avail of the bivalent vaccine. Buyers also cannot bring the vaccine home, and only registered healthcare workers can administer the jab on-site. At the moment, only those in the said priority groups can get the vaccine for free.
