2 dead, 2 hurt in motorcycle-ambulance collision in Quezon

SAN ANDRES, Quezon – A couple was killed and their son and grandson were injured when a municipal government ambulance rammed their motorcycle in Sitio Yuyuan, Barangay Camflora, here, on Saturday morning, July 22. Police identified the fatalities as Felix Duaso, 49; and his wife, Thelma, 48. Injured were their son Ferdie, 18, and grandson Mark James, 6. The victims, all residents of Barangay Ilaya Poblacion, this town, landed on the pavement while the ambulance fell into an open line canal. Ambulance driver Ricardo Lihay Lihay, 43, said he was on his way to the barangay to have the tire of the ambulance vulcanized when the incident happened. Thelma and Felix were declared dead in the hospital due to severe injuries while Ferdie and Mark are in stable condition at the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City, Quezon. Lihay Lihay was arrested by the police and faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in  double homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.
