Olivarez said the city government offers free baptism services, with ceremonies conducted thrice a year, particularly on March, July and November. It aims to provide an opportunity to families who cannot afford the traditional baptism ceremony. He said the “Binyagang Bayan” held on Saturday was the third baptism rites conducted by the city government. The mayor and his wife Aileen, served as the godparents of the 120 children aged seven years-old and below. Olivarez said the participating families received financial incentives from the city government. He also said the Special Services Office under Majel Co and the Local Civil Registry under Johanna Nemezo prepared food packs and souvenirs for the children and their families.
