The state weather bureau said Tropical Storm (TS) Egay (international name: Doksuri) slightly intensified while moving westwards over the Philippine Sea on Saturday, July 22.

As it moved "slowly" from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) 11 a.m. forecast, "Egay" accelerated a bit, moving 15 kilometers per hour (kph) westward. Due to tropical storm enhancement, southwest monsoon or "habagat" may affect the entire weekend and into next week. Occasional rains are possible over Western Visayas and Occidental Mindoro on July 23, Similarly, Western Visayas, Occidental Mindoro, and the northern portion of Palawan, including the Calamian Islands, may also experience occasional rains on July 24.
PAGASA forecasted that in the next 12 hours, "Egay" under TS may elevate to a severe tropical storm (STS). On Tuesday or Wednesday, however, "Egay" may reach its peak as a super typhoon over the Philippine Sea east of Extreme Northern Luzon. *(Sonny Daanoy)*
