The validity of the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Covid-19 vaccines will be extended for one year, even after the president has already lifted the state of public health emergency throughout the country.
"In accordance with the Executive Order (EO) in question, it is hereby conveyed that all established medical protocols are henceforth lifted, with the exception of the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) pertaining to vaccines and the payment of outstanding dues for the Health Emergency Allowance," Department of Health Secretary Teodoro "Ted" Herbosa said in a statement on Saturday evening, July 22.
This is to ensure that the remaining doses of vaccines will be exhausted, he said.
EUA is a clearance given to unregistered drugs and vaccines during a state of public health emergency.
Among the vaccines with EUA approved by the Food and Drug Administration are Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Sinovac, and AstraZeneca.
