The Eastern Police District (EPD) announced on Saturday, July 22, that it is all set for the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 24.
Under the leadership of Police Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta, a total of 729 EPD personnel will be deployed to ensure the safety and security of the general public against elements that will take advantage of the occasion.
The EPD said Police Assistance Desks (PADs) are also established in places of convergences to provide necessary public services.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and K9 Units are utilized to its maximum; and police presence through foot and mobile patrol has been intensified to prevent other possible threats throughout the event, according to the EPD.
Asueta also suspended official leaves of personnel during the event to ensure the EPD's full force deployment.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) earlier said that it will be deploying more than 17,000 policemen to secure the SONA at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
