RODULF Cabigon Aguilar is arrested after packs of suspected shabu worth P5.2 million were seized from his possession during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, on Saturday, July 22. Dindo Juanito Alaras, chief of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office, said 775 grams of suspected shabu worth P5.2 million were seized from the suspect. Alaras disclosed that Aguilar’s father-in-law was arrested last year for the same offense. He added that they discovered during surveillance that Aguilar succeeded his father-in-law in his illegal drug activities. “At least a kilo of shabu was seized when his father-in-law was arrested. So based on the amount of the confiscated illegal drugs, these suspects belonged to a big-time drug group,” said Alaras. Alaras said according to their monitoring, Aguilar was capable of disposing of at least 300 grams of shabu a week. Interviewed by reporters, Aguilar said he is just a newbie in the illegal drugs trade. The suspect said it was only his second time to deliver shabu. He added that he was paid P5,000 for every delivery of illegal drugs. Aguilar refused to disclose the other people behind the illegal drugs transaction but Alaras said certain individuals are already being monitored as possible cohorts of the suspect. Police said charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect.
