Manila Water to build new water treatment plant in Laguna


Manila Water will construct a new water treatment facility in Pakil, Laguna which can produce 200 million liters per day (MLD) of treated water, the east zone concessionaire announced on Friday, July 21.

The P7.84 billion East Bay Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant in Barangay Kabulusan is expected to provide potable water to the estimated two million residents in Pasig City, Municipality of Pateros, Taguig City, and other nearby towns by the first few months of 2025.

The construction of the East Bay Phase 2 Water Supply System Project includes a reservoir, pumping station, and pipelaying of 60 kilometers of 1200-millimeter and 1400-millimeter diameter pipes.

Meanwhile, the Phase 1 of the project has already been nearly finished by the second quarter this year and is now serving customers in Jalajala, Rizal.

The facility is expected to provide 50 MLD of treated water to 390,000 population in the towns of Jalajala, Pililla, Baras, Cardona, Morong, and Binangonan. (Nicole Magmanlac)
