LPA east of Luzon develops into tropical depression 'Egay'
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low-pressure area (LPA) east of Luzon developed into a tropical depression at 8 a.m. on Friday, July 21, and was given a local name “Egay.”
Egay is the country’s fifth tropical cyclone in 2023, and the second this month.

As of 3 a.m., the weather disturbance was last seen 950 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon. Weather specialist Benison Estareja said the cyclone could either make landfall in northern Luzon or continue east toward the Japanese southern islands.
