P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon believes that the planned transfer of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to the Office of the President (OP) would ultimately result to a more responsive agency. "Yes to transfer of PhilHealth to the Office of the President," Guanzon tweeted on Friday, July 21. The tweet came with a short clip wherein the former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner explained why she is in favor of such transfer. As it is, Guanzon claimed that Philhealth’s policies take a long time before they can get implemented. "So kung under the Office of the President, siguro naman bilis-bilisan na nila although I have to say professionals naman po talaga yung nasa PhilHealth, yung mga hindi politcal appointees," she said. (So if it's under the Office of the President, they will probably speed up the process although I have to say professionals those in PhilHealth are professionals, those who are not political appointees.) "Kaya go po kami dyan, payag po kami dyan, good yan! (We say go, we agree to it, that's good!)" added a rather enthusiastic Guanzon. "Transfer the PhilHealth to the Office of the President and provide more funds. Faster services, faster accreditation at faster linkages, networks sa mga LGUs at ang mga PWD organizations namin (to the local government units and to our persons with disabilities organizations)," she further said. Earlier, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said there was no no legal issue with the proposed transfer of supervision of PhilHealth, an attached agency of the Department of Health (DOH), to the OP.
