Disney+ celebrates wins at Korea’s 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards  


Disney+ congratulated its shows and stars for winning at the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards (BSA) held in Incheon, South Korea on July 19. 

The Blue Dragon Series Awards ceremony honored shows released on video streaming platforms from May 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023.

Disney+ won four awards at the ceremony hosted by Jun Hyun-moo and Yoona.

“Big Bet,” a Korean drama starring Choi Min-sik, Son Suk-ku, and Lee Dong-hwi about a casino kingpin in the Philippines, was adjudged best drama, beating “The Glory,” “Narco-Saints,” “Bargain” and “Weak Hero Class 1.”

The drama also showcased Filipino talents Nico Antonio, Ronnie Lazaro, Bembol Roco, Epy Quizon, Jeffrey Santos, Art Acuña, Kiko Matos, Rose Van Ginkel, Guji Lorenzana, Babyerna Liong, and Roeder Camañag.

“Big Bet” star Lee Dong-hwi, who rose to popularity through the hit drama “Reply 1988,” won best supporting actor. 

In its premiere week, the second season of “Big Bet” replaced the first season as the most watched locally produced original series on Disney+ in Korea.

In addition, Shin Ye-eun won best news actress for the Disney+ drama “Revenge of Others,” which also stars actor Lomon of “All of Us Are Dead.” 

In “Revenge of Others, “Shin Ye-eun plays the role of a student who transfers to her brother’s school to uncover the truth of his mysterious death.

Former “Running Man” cast member Lee Kwang-soo won the TIRTIR Popularity Star Award for his role on the Disney+ show “Zone: Survival Mission.”
