BAGUIO CITY – Police have arrested the suspect in the murder of a 38-year-old woman here on July 11.
The Baguio City Police Office-Station 1 identified the suspect as “Karl,” 22, a resident of Malakas St., Quezon City.
Karl is facing a case of robbery with homicide for killing Floradel de Mesa, 38, in her house, and kidnapping for abducting the victim's 13-year-old daughter after committing the crime.
Police identified the suspect in a follow-up operation and found out that he proceeded to Tumauini, Isabela after the incident.
With the help of municipal lawmen, the suspect was apprehended and rescued the girl in his rented room on July 16.
The girl, witnessed by a relative, turned over an 11.5-inch black jungle knife with a black casing owned by the suspect believed to have been used in the killing.
De Mesa was found dead by her 17-year-old son and his three-year-old brother was unharmed. Her P100,000 and cellphone were missing.
Karl is now detained at the Baguio City Jail while the minor is now in the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
