Last year’s world champion Kimberly Anne Custodio took the silver medal after yielding to United Arab Emirates' Abdoh Abdulla Balqees Abdulkareem in the women’s -45 kg finals.
Abdulkareem’s triumph served as a redemption over Custodio after she was bested in the semifinals by Meggie Ochoa in the previous edition of the tilt.
In the same weight class, Daniella Palanca downed Korean Kim Na Hyun to snag the bronze, while Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Kaila Napolis stunned crowd favorite Mongoljin Ganbaatar of Mongolia to also bag the bronze in the -52kg class.
