Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna- Pangan led the inauguration of "Tulay Pangarap- Abante Footbridge" in Sta. Ana, Manila, on Thursday, July 20.

Abante Footbridge is a project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in cooperation with the City of Manila government.

The local government said the construction of the bridge was led by 6th District Representative Cong. Benny Abante, which started in 2021.

"Napakawerte po ninyo dahil 'yong matagal niyong pangarap at ni Cong. Benny, after three long years, nagkaroon na ng katuparan (You are very luck because your and Cong. Benny's dream for a long time, after three long years, has been fulfilled)," the mayor said in her address.

She said it is the first footbridge along Pasig River to connect Barangay 900, Punta Sta. Ana to Sta. Ana Proper.

The city government said that before the footbridge was built, residents would pass by the main road or take a boat to cross the Pasig River.

It noted that the footbridge is a closer alternative going to the public market, hospital, church and other public transportation.

The bridge is equipped with solar panels and lights for illumination during nighttime and safety of the residents passing.

The ribbon cutting ceremony were also attended by DPWH South Manila District Engr. Mike Macud, councilors of the city's 6th district, and barangay officials in Sta. Ana.

The city government also distributed hot meals to residents of Sta. Ana.
