Mandaluyong gov't gives cash incentives to grads with Latin Honors, Bar and Board passers, topnotchers
The Mandaluyong City local government passed an ordinance on the grant of cash incentives to the city's graduates with Latin Honors, Bar Exam passers and topnotchers, and Board Exam topnotchers as part of the the local government unit's (LGU's) efforts in not just improving the city's educational system but also to inspire its students to become staunch pillars of society.
Under Ordinance No. 929, S-202,3 or the "Ordinance Granting Cash Incentives to Mandaleños who Graduated with Latin Honors, Bar Topnotchers and Passers, and Board Topnotchers in the City of Mandaluyong", the local government aims to encourage and inspire the youth and students of the city to work for exemplary academic performance and recognize their academic excellence.
The city government said the following are the amount of cash incentives to be given to grantees:
1\. Summa Cum Laude \- P10\,000
2\. Magna Cum Laude \- P7\,500
3\. Cum Laude \- P5\,000
4\. Bar Topnotchers \(Top 10\) \- P20\,000
5\. Bar Passers \- P10\,000
6\. Board Topnotchers \(Top 10\) \- P15\,000
The qualifications for the recipients of cash incentive are:
1\. The applicant and his/her parents are residents and voters of Mandaluyong\.
2\. Must be of good moral character with no derogatory record\.
3\. The applicant must graduate with Latin Honors \(Cum Laude\, Magna Cum Laude\, and Summa Cum Laude\)\, or topnotcher and passer of the Bar Examination\, or topnotcher of the Board Examination\.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos attended several elementary, high school, and senior high school graduations in the city and reminded the students that education is the key to success and their means of reaching their own dreams and aspirations.
