GSIS, Landbank enhance data-sharing security measures
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and the Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) have agreed to enhance the security measures surrounding the sharing of customer data between the two state-owned entities.
During a signing ceremony last Tuesday, July 17, GSIS President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo "Wick" Veloso alongside Landbank President Lynette V. Ortiz, officially sealed an agreement focused on enhancing the security of customer data sharing.
"With this Agreement, our stakeholders are assured that their private, confidential information are safe and secure with us. They can be sure that we will protect their data privacy and protect their sensitive information including their financial data, Veloso said.
As per the agreement, the sharing of GSIS client data with Landbank will enable the prompt issuance of LANDBANK Visa Debit Cards to members and pensioners upon their enrollment at the GSIS Main Office in Pasay City.
Veloso said this streamlined process will allow members to conveniently receive and withdraw their claims and proceeds from GSIS through the LANDBANK Cards.
In a demonstration of their unwavering commitment, the pension fund said both parties have agreed to implement stringent security measures to protect the personal data of GSIS clients.
Through the adoption of robust organizational, physical, and technical safeguards, they will securely store the data, ensuring its confidentiality, integrity, and availability, GSIS said.
These measures will effectively safeguard against any unauthorized disclosure, accidental or unlawful destruction or alteration, unlawful processing or use, fraudulent misuse, or loss of the data.
"This data-sharing agreement is crucial as it defines the scope and parameters of proper data use. It also outlines the security measures we need to implement to protect our members' data and the protocols to follow in the event of a data breach," Veloso said.
The agreement is compliant with Republic Act (RA) No. 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and National Privacy Commission Circular No. 2020-03, which guarantee the security and protection of personal information in the government and private sectors.
“With enhancing data privacy and cybersecurity at the top of our priorities, I assure you of LANDBANK’S commitment in protecting the confidentiality and integrity of all the data and information to be shared under this agreement,” Ortiz said.
