(Tingog Party-list)
The office of House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Tingog Party-list has facilitated the release of P10,000 in cash assistance each to 31 cancer patients at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) in Quezon City. The beneficiaries were the same patients that took part in a townhall meeting with Speaker Romualdez at the PCMC last Monday, July 17. The cash aid--sourced from the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) assistance to individuals in crisis situations (program)--is meant to augment the patients' budget for food and medicine. Mark John, a cancer patient and amputee, was among the beneficiaries of the cash dole out. "Helpful po lalo na sa mga parents kasi yun talaga mga kailangan ng mga assistance kasi yun talaga yung unang nauubos lalo na sa mga problema sa panggastos (This is helpful, this is the type of assistance that's needed especially by parents because money is the first thing that gets depleted)," he said in reaction to the cash aid. Mark John and the 30 other patients were also given guarantee letters (GLs) worth P50,000 each. These GLs, provided by Romualdez and Tingog, can cover for their future medical needs. Tingog Party-list is represented in Philippine Congress by Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez and Jude Acidre The Speaker's office and Tignog said that it remains committed to easing the burden for Filipinos nationwide.
